The Fetal Lounge is the brainchild of a team of gynecologists with extensive experience in the field of Obstetrics. Our aim is to practice and popularize the science of Fetal Medicine which will improve the quality of care of your unborn child. Fetal medicine is a subspeciality of Obstetrics where the imaging and care of the unborn fetus is the priority. Having practiced Obstetrics for many years before specializing in Fetal Medicine, we are uniquely placed to focus on the imaging of the fetus and then use that knowledge to optimize the care of the pregnant mother and the baby she is carrying.
Our Machine
We use a GE VOLUSON E6 Radiance ultrasound machine, which is one of the higher- end machines available in the field of Fetal Medicine. The resolution is sharper, the images are crisper and coupled with an experienced Fetal Medicine Specialist, we will give you as accurate an assessment as possible in our ultrasound reports.
Ultrasound scans are an integral part of our practice. These scans are scheduled at various stages of pregnancies to guide the management and care of the mother and child. The two most important scans are the ones performed at 3 months and 5 months of pregnancy, referred to as the ‘NT Scan’ and ‘TIFFA Scan’ respectively. These scans give you the maximum information about various aspects of fetal development and are crucial during pregnancy. We use 3D and 4D technology to aid us in our assessment as required. We are very well trained and are certified by the “Fetal Medicine Foundation, London” in the performance of these scans. Later in pregnancy, the focus during the growth scans would be on seeing if the baby is growing along expected lines.
The science of Fetal medicine is not just about scans. We also use other investigative modalities like maternal blood tests and amniotic fluid tests to assess fetal health. At times, we are also able to offer treatment for certain conditions - intrauterine transfusion for fetal anemia is a prime example of how we are able to save the baby’s life through timely intervention. Being Obstetrician and Gynecologists, in addition to fetal medicine services, we also provide OP consultation for pregnancy- related and gynecologic problems. We also offer guidance and tie-up facilities for patients requiring vaginal, Laparoscopic and vNOTES surgeries.
